Have you been sorted? I mean, actually had the sorting hat put on your head and had it talk to you?
No, not many people have. They usually take a Facebook quiz, or something of the like…or they just choose for themselves.
But, I know a secret….
Do you wanna know my secret?
Are you sure? With knowledge comes power and we all know, thanks to Spiderman, what power brings.
What if you don’t get the house you ‘want’ or thought you should be in? Can you accept it if the Sorting Hat puts you in Slytherin…when you always thought, or claimed, Gryffindor? Can you handle the truth?!?
There is a spot inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter that you can go and BE SORTED. Universal Studios Hollywood is the newest home of Harry Potter world. And it is amazing!
But to get to this place, you must first ride The Forbidden Journey…okay, not true. But the ride is fun and I recommend it. You have to go to the gift shop that is located at the exit of The Forbidden Journey. In there, you will find Sorting Hats that you can buy! What a party game it would be!
Once in side the gift shop, look up, look down, look all around. Did you see the Maurader’s Map? Awesome huh!? Go to the back counter and quietly ask one of the wait-people if you can be sorted. You have to ask. It isn’t just out in the open like an attraction.
Remember the House Mottos. It will help if you have a child sorted where they DON’T want to be sorted.
Gryffindor: BRAVE, DARING, CHILVEROUS
Ravenclaw: WISDOM, INTELLIGENT, CREATIVITY
Hufflepuff: LOYAL, KIDNESS, HONESTY
Slytherin: CUNNING, AMBITIOUS, DETERMINED
The Hats do require batteries and are programmed to cycle through the sorting process. It will sort one house, then another, then another, then the last. Then it will start over. So, when I went with my 4 teens, they each had a different house shirt on. I figured out the pattern and lined them up according to their shirts. They were then sorted into the houses that they had already chosen.
Yes, I cheated. But it was still fun and exciting. It was exciting because the workers don’t sort everybody. You have TO ASK to be sorted. Ask any worker in the gift shop, nicely, and they’ll go behind the counter and get the Sorting Hat. They will place it on your head, after telling you that what it says is more of a suggestion. They know that it is a pattern and not a random sorting process. I’m sure the last thing they want is disappointed kiddos. So if you know the pattern, maybe you can jump in for Slytherin if there is an issue.
Here is where my family was sorted:
Eldest Daughter: Gryffindor
Younger Twin: Ravenclaw
Eldest Twin: Hufflepuff
I was sorted a few hours later into Ravenclaw.
All in all, we were all happy with our houses. My hubby and son didn’t mind that they were Slytherin. In fact, they both embraced it and considered it a confirmation of how well they pull pranks.
Now, just so you know, going to Hogsmeade makes us feel like this…
We rush to it and practically embrace it. Okay, I admit I did hug the opening column. I’m not ashamed of it either.
And because we love it so much, we recommend using Get Away Today to make all our reservations and plans when going. Remember to use the coupon code: MMOM10 for another $10 off any package. And right now you can get up to $300 in exclusive gifts when you book a package.
