This past September, for my 19th wedding anniversary, my husband and I took our kids to Universal Studios Hollywood. We traveled along with Mouseke-Cassie and her family. Between the two of us Mousekemoms, there were 2 husbands and 10 kids. Ages ranged from 17 all the way down to 1. It was an adventure. Traveling with BIG families always is. It is so hard these days to find hotels that will let you have ALL your kids in the room with you. Getting connecting room, which means more than 1 room, is expensive for a budgeting family. If they don’t connect, you kids are staying in a completely separate room, unless you and your husband separate too. What an inconvenience.
Embassy Suites by Hilton Arcadia Pasadena is an amazing hotel that works with families. This is an upscale all-suite hotel that has FREE Wi-Fi, FREE breakfast (made to order), and FREE parking. All of which we used!
When you walk into the hotel, it is amazing. It has what is called an ‘atrium lobby’. There is a flowing brook and fountain that is the home to some very colorful fish. There are benches to just sit and relax, like being in a nice park. And it is incredibly open and light. Natural sunlight filters in from a glass ceiling way over head. It is elegant and beautiful.
The rooms are spacious and nice. They have a mini-fridge, a table and chairs, sofa (also a bed), and a coffee maker. And they allow your WHOLE family to stay in a room; however it works best FOR YOU! Cassie was able to put her entire family of 8 in one room! I had my entire family of 6 in mine! Some slept on floors if they wanted to obviously. No one made a fuss or anything; in fact they gave us a texting number to get more blanket and/or towels. All we had to do was text ‘Can we please have two more blankets?’ and they were brought right to our door! No problem! Talk about service!!!
I want to tell you about the amazing breakfast that was available EVERY day, for FREE. It was very high class and very impressive. Made to order omelet bar. Juice bar, yogurt bar. Oatmeal, cereal, and a buffet of breakfast foods. High protein options, not just the run of the mill high sugar donuts and Danishes. This was something that would fill you up for more than a few hours.
They even have a lounge and a restaurant on site. It was an amazingly convenient place to stay! There is even an Evening Reception to enjoy. There is a bar on site also; they serve a very nice Cupcake Moscato. There is an indoor pool for the family, along with a hot tub. And small gym so you can work out. And a small business center to get your work done in.
Did I mention they have GLASS elevators? They were so neat to ride up and down in. Ok, a bit unnerving for some, but the view of the fountains and the brooks were very nice and calming.
Everything about this hotel was top notch…but there was one particular person I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to. She went above and beyond the call of duty for our two families. She checked us in, she checked us out, and she made sure we were taken care of. I have permission to share her picture; but I’m not sure about sharing her name. Either way, here she is…if you stay there, make sure to say hello to this amazing person.
Universal Studios Hollywood is exactly 40 minutes away from this hotel. Not the closest; but for the extras and price it was well worth the drive. Besides, the drive was sort of pretty. Yes, there is California traffic, but it was a straight shot down the high way and we were there. It was super easy!
Also, here is an amazing deal on tickets for when you go to Universal Studios Hollywood. Don’t forget to go to The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter! You won’t regret it!
