Have you ever wanted to experience the magic of runDisney first-hand, watching the full race each step of the way? Maybe by watching your goal is to check out the race before you fork out the cash (yes, a runDisney race is pricey!). Or maybe you just want to get an idea of what to experience before your first runDisney race? Either way, you’re in luck as we have the whole first-person runDisney Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Video here so you can experience the race as if you’re running it yourself!
First, let me introduce myself. I am Alex, the husband of MousekeMom Cassie. I love to run and didn’t know what to expect at my first runDisney event. But when your wife asks if you want to run a half marathon and make a weekend of it, you don’t turn her down. 🙂 If you recall, Cassie and Kiz enjoyed the Super Heroes 5K with MousekeDad Jake (Kiz’s husband).
I enjoyed the half marathon and even shared all the details you might want for a runDisney event from a runner’s perspective over at my site. You can see I share everything you might expect from the registration, the expo (it was great to meet Olympian Jeff Galloway), transportation, the race itself, and even those petty post-race refreshments (ok, I digress! 😉 ).
One thing I often enjoy is watching a race from the runner’s perspective. This allows me to enjoy the race though I’m not there. So we thought it would be fun to share the 2016 Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon video with you. Here’s a few things to watch for:
- What you might not know is that if you run one of the half marathons in Disneyland is that you not only enjoy running through Disneyland and California Adventure, but you usually get an extra treat like running through the Anaheim Angels stadium infield as the parks don’t have enough property to host the full 13.1 mile race (well, without running multiple loops).
- Seeing It’s a Small World all lit up for Christmas was a treat. Yes I’m a guy and yes I said that. I just won’t confess that it’s my favorite part of Disneyland. 🙂
- If nothing else, watch for the beautiful run through Cars Land in the dark, with the amazing red rock arches and skyline.
I can’t end this article without sharing the amazing bling I received at this race. That long sleeve tech shirt is now one of my favorites and that medal – oh that medal! – is truly one of my favorites. One of my non-running friends told me that he was going to start running just because of that medal.
If you’re planning to run a runDisney event any time soon, I encourage you to check out my full race recap of the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. This article is just intended to share just a couple of highlights to whet your appetite for your next runDisney event. If you’re not even a runner, never fear! They actually give you enough time to even walk the event if that’s your style!
