At the time or writing this, Rogue One has been out for about two weeks. Most of you have probably already seen this Star Wars story; but if you haven’t, I only have one thing to say to you: “It’s worth it.” The entire film is a visual master piece with all of the humor and star ship dog fights we’ve all come to enjoy. The acting is amazing and the character’s are all fun and fleshed out.
Because the movie happens just before a New Hope, several different characters can be brought back to make minor cameos and lets us know what they were doing before Luke Skywalker rescued Princess Leia from the clutches of the Empire.
Speaking of the Empire, there was one person that made the entire population of planet earth cry out with joy just from a small glimpse in the trailer. The single thing that made everyone want to see this film. The return of Darth Vader to the silver screen. OH. MY. GOSH. It was amazing. Even with less than twenty minutes of screen time, Darth Vader is definitely one of the best things in this movie. This movie shows us why everyone knows, and fears, the name of the most ruthless man in the galaxy. James Earl Jones return to voice this black clad Sith lord.
This movie happens between episode 3 and episode 4 meaning that there are Easter eggs absolutely EVERYWHERE! R2-D2 and C-3Po make a brief appearance(continuing to make these two droids the only beings that have been in every Star Wars film), linking the prequels to the classic trilogy. They aren’t the only character’s to come back though, Grand Moff Tarkin makes several appearance. I can feel you all asking, “How? Peter Cushing has been dead for years!” Well, you’re right. Peter Cushing has been dead for years, but with today’s technology and a little bit of computer generated imagery a realistic Grand Moff Tarkin complexion can be created!
Other people that are back from the dead are several fighter pilots, the same as the fighter pilots from the destruction of the first Death Star. Actually, they used unused footage from A New Hope. Unfortunately, not everyone lived through Rogue One. Many pilots died while trying to capture the Death Star plans. If you look and listen hard enough you can see that one of the pilots that didn’t make it had the call sign of “Red 5”. Once he dies, that leaves the position open to Luke Skywalker in the next movie.
Overall, this movie is well worth your time and money. I hope you like it as much as I did!
Please leave any Easter eggs or references you think I might have missed down in the comment area so we can look for them next time!
