She is Sleeping Beauty and I am Belle. Those are our alter-egos. But we aren’t superheroes (well, we are sort of), we are Disney bloggers. And we have so much dang fun it should be outlawed! Let me tell you about my adventure partner Cassie.
This is a friendship that started about 18 years ago… I was married and expecting my first baby. She was engaged to my husband’s best friend. I loved her from the start.
What an imaginative, ingenious, and creative woman. She is a self-starter and a deep thinker. I stand in awe of her. She runs her own SUCCESSFUL lifestyle blog, is active in her church and community, home-schools, and runs her home with efficiency and resourcefulness.
Flash forward to April 2016. My phone rings. It was Cassie with a proposition that I could NOT turn down.
“I have 2 round trip tickets to anywhere in the US and a budget for a weekend. Interested?”
She hit me out of the blue…I hadn’t been saving money for a girl’s weekend. Family vaca, yes. Mom-get-away, no. But… “I’m in. What do you need from me?”
She got the information and said she’d be back in touch. We texted back and forth for about 2 weeks. And ultimately decided on Disneyland….duh! Disneyland with my best girlfriend; someone who LOVES the Tower of Terror as much, if not more, that I, how could I resist?
So it was set. I got the days off of school, she got the 3 day Park Hopper tickets and hotel and we were set. I couldn’t believe it! This was really going to happen. And we were leaving on her birthday! So I just HAD to get her a Disney present, right?!? RIGHT! Matching Mickey Mouse cinch sacks! WE don’t do Disney without them!
So we went. We rocked the parks, milked every minute and had a blast! This home schooling mom of 6 can hustle from attraction to attraction like no other woman I know. She can look at the Disneyland maps, figure out which Fast Pass to grab first and in what order, and not spill her iced coffee from the Coffee cart. She is a force to be reckoned with!
We giggled, we participated, we had a blast. I became known as ‘Free Beer Lady’ at the Golden Horseshoe (yes, there’s a story there!) and she was the yeller of “Andy’s coming!” when the Disney-Pixar characters were in ear shot. We danced with Sully, and flirted with Chewbacca, yee-hawed on Splash Mountain, and got hyper on Hyper-Space Mountain.
Not to mention getting wigged out by Kilo Ren.
We ate at the Blue Bayou and we screamed on the Screamer, Tower dropped at least 6 times, and got giggle punch drunk during World of Color while playing the Color Wheel game.
But, while standing in line for Midway Mania, she asked me a question that changed my life. “If you were to start a Disney blog, what would you call it?”
And that, ladies and gents, is where and when Mousekemoms was born. We’ve never looked back! That was May of 2016, and on June 11, we launched. We’ve been ‘sharing the joy’ since then. What a ride it has been. Seriously, it has been a blast! And now, we get to help others have that joy too.
Since then, we’ve ran our first (of many I hope) RunDisney events. We truly are IRON MOMS!
And we’ve gone to Hogwarts twice.
We’ve written 136 articles and have done 51 LIVE videos on Facebook. We’ve made some amazing friends whom we’ve never met face to face. And we can talk Disney with the best of them. In 6 months.
I am a teacher and a writer. Cassie is the experienced blogger. She has taught me so much! But I have so much more to learn! She is amazing. Everyone should have a Cassie in their life.
She is the Woody to my Buzz. The Jack to my Gus Gus. She is the Dale to my Chip. She is the Sully to my Mike. I think you get the picture…we’re best friends.
