I love to talk about food at Disneyland and today I am talking about Flavored Popcorn at Disneyland!
Have you been to the Cozy Cone Motel?
It’s such a fantastic place because it is so reminiscent of the Cars movies that it literally feels like you are there. But that isn’t all. The Cozy Cone Motel offers some amazing eats, some are better than others.
There are five Cozy Cone Motel Stands behind the Cozy Cone Motel Lobby.
We will be sharing our thoughts on all of the foods at each of the different “Cones” but today we are sharing our experience on Cone #5 – Popcone.
The speciality is Flavored Popcorn!
I would consider myself a popcorn snob. I love popcorn. It is my snack obsession. Sometimes it is my best friend and sometimes my worst enemy because the salt and butter and carbs do not fit my body well. Even as I write this post, I am snacking on some nice, fresh popped, buttery, salty popcorn.
But I don’t care, I still love it. So that’s why I was so looking forward to giving this flavored popcorn a go!
This is a specialFlavored Popcorn at Disneyland California Adventure, not found anywhere else in the parks. So it’s a special treat to try.
The flavors change occasionally, but for the most part, these are the consistent flavors you will find:
- Dill Pickle
- Garlic Parmesan
- Buffalo Ranch
- White Cheddar
How do they make the flavored popcorn at Popcone?
You can actually watch them make it right on the spot!
All they do is take the base of the butter popcorn (not popped on site, but brought into the stand) and then they had a powder flavor to the popcorn in tubs and “shake it up” to coat it. Then they serve it.
How much is the flavored popcorn at Popcone?
It would actually make the list for a $5 snack! It is $4.99 each “scoop” which is a smallish theater size popcorn. They will have occasional holiday options that cost a little more. You can also get a Lightning McQueen souvenir bucket for $13.99, which gives you about the same amount of popcorn.
So how does the popcorn taste?
We tried 4 of the 6 flavors. We decided to try dill pickle, buffalo ranch, pizza and garlic parmesan since they were the more unique flavors.
Here’s the “scoop” on these popcorn scoops. They are just ok. Although I love popcorn, this is actually one of my least favorite snacks.
Well, the flavor is a very thick powder and it actually makes me cough because it is easy to inhale. It’s like making flavored salts and then pouring a thick scoop onto the popcorn. You’d think it would taste similar to Doritos flavored corn chips, but Doritos does it much better. The pizza was gross, the buffalo ranch was okay, the dill pickle was decent and the garlic parmesan was the most “normal” and not that garlickly or parmesany (I make up words when I describe food – sorry!). But the powder was so thick that it really was overwhelming. Maybe if someone else made it, it would be better, but I just didn’t like inhaling a thick, salty powder with every bite.
And although I love popcorn, I typically rarely get it at Disneyland because there are far better eats and treats that are more filling and tastier.
Don’t worry, I will continue sharing some of the best…and worst snacks at Disneyland.
Have you tried these flavored popcorns?
I would love to hear your experience.
