Much of what we see today at Paradise Pier will close down for a major face lift on January 8th. Yes, we need to grab a tissue and wipe a tear as we wave so long to the California Screamer.
But don’t be too sad.
Because in the summer of 2018, the Screamer will RE-open and be even more amazing; along with the entire back part of the Games of the Boardwalk, The Cove Bar, Ariel’s Grotto and yes, even the Mickey Wheel will be something much more exciting!
The INCREDICOASTER will be based on Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles. Yes, the Par family is getting their own little part of the park! In 2018, the Screamer will become an Incredible based roller coaster! New cars, new paint, new theme! I, for one, am very excited!
Along with the Incredicoaster, there will be new attraction themes, new food places, and new merchandise to purchase! New characters to meet and greet too!
4 brand new ‘neighborhoods’ will be opening this summer representing 3 major Disney Pixar movies, with the 4th neighborhood being a celebration of some of our favorites!
Don’t worry! Our favorite Toy Story Mania will still be there! Whew! But now, we will have an entire Toy Story neighborhood to hang out in!
Joy and all her friends will be in attendance as well. The Inside Out neighborhood is predicted to be on the western side of the pier. (I’m thinking behind the Mickey Wheel.)
The 4th neighborhood is not specified at the time of this posting. As far as I can tell, it will be a mixture of Pixar stories. Does that mean the shorts? Does that mean other full length feature films? I don’t know.
The Mickey Wheel will also get an update. The 24 gondolas will be Pixar characters; but the Mickey Mouse in the center, the mouse that started it all, will remain. The Boardwalk Games will also be getting an over haul. They will become more Pixar inspired. They will close down what is currently there January 8th! So if you are thinking of going, NOW is the time to get your tickets. You can still get 2017 prices for the first 8 days of 2018! But you have to hurry!
Also closing down Jan. 8th is Ariel’s Grotto, and the Cove Bar. (Which makes me sad, I LOVE the Cove!) They will be getting as up grade as well. *This will effect World of Color packages* Be aware!*
The area of Goofy’s Flight School, The Golden Zephyr, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, and all the way around the pier to The Little Mermaid~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is unknown. The area will become known as Paradise Park, NOT Paradise Pier. But there is no mention at this time of what happens to the attractions themselves. I can’t imagine Disney doing away with these icons; but who knows?
Disney’s limited-time Pixar Fest celebration opens April 13, 2018. I expect quite a bit of info by then. This will also usher in the new “Together Forever-A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks show and the return of the Pixar Play and Paint the Night Parades!
There is so much happening at Disney…you never have the same trip twice!
